EDH Boosts Efficiency and Production with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Cloud Upgrade

After a decade of operation, EDH faced several challenges in management and operations due to using different systems across departments, leading to fragmented and inconsistent data. This made it difficult for departments to quickly and timely access information. Work processes were still mostly manual and lacked automation, resulting in increased task completion time, production delays, and higher labor costs. Moreover, the lack of real-time data management was a major barrier, especially in tracking production schedules, supply chain status, and order fulfillment progress. Some challenges faced by each department were as follows:

• Purchasing Department: Inefficient supplier information and performance management.
• Warehouse Department: Difficulties in accurately tracking inventory levels, leading to stockouts or excess inventory.
• Production Department: Challenges in managing the entire production process for the company’s specific products.
• Finance & Accounting Department: Lack of consistent data from other departments, making financial aggregation and analysis difficult.

EDH has migrated all data and operations to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central on the cloud. This upgrade allows users to access from any location, increasing the company’s flexibility and responsiveness. EDH has achieved the expected results, including enhanced data system security, backup and recovery mechanisms supported by Microsoft, thereby reducing the burden on the IT team. They no longer need to worry about server maintenance or software updates and can focus more on strategic initiatives. Overall, the IT team will save more than 30% of their time, and the business can save costs related to manpower investment and infrastructure maintenance.

Enhancing Operational Efficiency through Core Functionality Upgrades

The system upgrade at EDH has significantly improved operations in departments such as Purchasing, Sales, Warehouse, Production, and Finance & Accounting. Departments have enhanced internal connectivity, while staff have minimized manual errors. Now, the Purchasing team can handle inspection, testing, and certification requests more comprehensively. Meanwhile, warehouse staff experience fewer user errors and manage finished goods more efficiently within the system’s parameters.

One key benefit of transitioning to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is the more complete Bill of Materials (BOM) function in cost allocation. This feature allows users to automatically gather all labor and overhead production costs and allocate these costs to production orders based on different criteria. Managing data through BOM is a crucial foundation for the accounting department to track, evaluate, and calculate costs more accurately and generate automated reports, providing the company with an overview and benchmark to compare standard goals with actual results.

Expanding Local Add-On Solutions

EDH has implemented NaviWorld Vietnam’s packages, such as the Vietnamese Language Pack and the Vietnam Accounting System Localization (VAS) Pack, specifically designed for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to ensure compliance with Vietnamese accounting regulations. The Jet Report management reporting system from InsightSoftware has also been integrated to create detailed, dynamic, accurate, and timely reports that meet the needs of various departments. The overall system includes customized features to automate material purchasing requests from multiple departments, record orders, and manage product inspection information.
